Model based user interfaces for complex software systems

OTKA project
1999 - 2001

Local supervisor: Tilly Károly
Official project supervisor: BME MIT

The goal of the research was to investigate solutions, which make the use of complex software systems definitely simpler. Two approaches were examined. Intelligent user interfaces allow the use of systems with no significant a-priory knowledge, while invariant user interfaces offer unified tools and notations, which once learned, assure further application of user interface components in a system independent way.
An agent based framwork for building intelligent user interfaces has been worked out, and methods for implementing certain agents has been studied. The notion and fundamental elements of invariant user interfaces have been introduced, and a framework for building invariant user interfaces has been designed and implemented.
